View Full Version : "great" canadian tire review
well my mom took her car for safety and e-test to canadian tire on vistoria street(across the road from carimex) it needed brakes, so they put the brakes the brakes on, magiclly drive axel BRAKES on the way from the hoist to the dyno. so i was liek wtf, car is 4 years old. drice axels do not just brake. when i told them that they should pay for it. they said no dice, and we gotta pay for parts and labour. so i told em to stick it. the servise manager mike, is the biggest asshole you will ever deal with in your life. and honestly i eouldn't even gas from canadian tire no more, f***k em, straight up.
sorry for swearing, pleas eunderstand my frastration

They are all good there, they all know how the other CT's treat people and get pissed off. My buddy even said the CT I went to to get my car safetied was retarded and I showed him the paperwork from it he couldn't believe it. The only CT I go to is the one in waterloo where King and Weber meet on that side street. It's by Chapters and that Wholesale place.

oh ok...
i work at canadian tire and ppl like you are idiots. shit breaks and most ppl come there cause its already broken so they try to blame it on us thinking since its a big corporation they will pay up. WRONG
each canadian tire is INDEPENDENTLY OWNED none of them are the same so you taking like that makes you an idiot since you have no idea what you are saying
prime example i changed 2 tires on a guys car and than when i was done i took it out and he tryed coming back in and saying i broke his window. ppl like that are jokes but think CT will pay up. wake up shit happens and it happened to be there.

ex. did a windshield in a white acura tsx, noticed the a A piller in the front had a huge dent, told the boss.. what do you think happend, came back and told us we did it and was taking us to court, never heard from him or court.

like everyone else is saying, shit happens, shit breaks for no reason at the worst times
i was doing a speaker install on a civic (hadn't even got to the wiring, i was just mounting them) and the deck stopped working completely. some asian guy owned it and threatened to kung-fu my boss's ass for breaking his car... my boss was also asian and has martial arts training, haha. that would have been sweet.
he ended up just saying he was going to sue the pants off of the company with his super awesome lawyer, then nothing ever came of it.

All I've got to say is this:
I wouldn't take my car to Canadian Tire if it was the last fucking repair station on earth. I'd rather garage my car then take it to CT. Sorry Ivan, but I have to disagree with you, because they have got the biggest group of jokers and thieve's I've ever seen.
I'd trust Jiffy Lube before I trust Canadian Tire.

I will admit this, the canadian tire in simcoe is terrible, they screwed my ford contour up endless, they did the timing belt (big mistake) they forgot to put the valve cover gasket on, oil sprayed everywhere... they timed it horribly, it never ran right... infact it never ran good, even when I sold it.. they said it was fixed 8 times, and it always acted the same, lol it always ran tough..
I bet an apprentice worked on it

i want to see some of you guys come to my store and have some bussiness with us and see how you get treated
oh we get pay flat rate not per hour, so to purpesly break your axel and make .3 of an hour(thats how much they pay to change it) is really not work it for anyone

There is however purpose for Canadian Tire. In the end they supply the axle to the person, therefore making profit. And according to the Jiffy Lube scandal, managers provide "benefits" to selling more stuff. I'm not saying it happens at your CT, but I've been in plenty of garages behind the scenes, and I know there is some pretty shifty stuff going down in a lot of them.
So my point is it makes sense for Canadian Tire to try to get away with this stuff. It makes them money, and usually the general public is too naive to know the difference.

Here's the thing its retail. People have a problem they go to you to fix it. They are first pissed of that their shit is broken, and second they are pissed that they have to pay money to get shit fixed/updated. Then when it's not done on time, or you (as the expert) find more problems, people get more pissed off, shit happens. I know what it feels like I've worked in the retail and servicing (electronics) industry so I feel for you guys.

actualy wrong, there absolutly no profit on most of the parts we sell very little and this all due to such a great competition now days, most money is made on labour. as for making benefits for selling more never seen that happen and i know for sure we dont do that

The general public is fuckin' stupid.
I used to work at the Canadian tire parts desk and people always thought I was trying to up-sell them, as if I was making a commission. There's a reason why battery A costs half the price of battery B you idiots.
The best is trying to suggest to someone to spend LESS money on spark plugs. or $2 more for WAY better wiper blades.
thats the thing 80% of the general public has no knowledge of anything. most of them have no idea about anything on their car at all. so when you tell them something instantly they think you are trying to rip them off.
telling a person his brakes are gone when his in an oil change is the best, cause instantly their reply is no it dont it stoped fine on the way here, than 4 days later he on a tow truck coming back cause his brakes gave up.
this dude creating this thread just sums up the 80% of the public that has no idea about anthing automotive and have no idea what shape their cars are in. no offence to you man but you just made your self look like an idiot cause you came on here trying to be all tough and shit, i work at CT so i know thats not true. i bet if you posted up the work order of the shop cause i bet you there is notes on there from the tech that would prove you wrong
no one out there is out to lose their licance expecialy when you pay so much to get it and have so much money in tools and what not, to just have it collection dust cause you lost your licance

I've had issues with CTC's auto repair myself, same issue, with front brakes on a diesel Rabbit. They did the brakes, and 45 minutes after I picked the car up, the drivers side ball joint fell out.

You guys can defend CT all you want, but I've seen some STUPID things happen at them.. Best is a friends truck, they put it on the hoist to change the tires.. Except they didn't use proper lift points(ie the frame), they put the pads of the hoist UNDER THE SIDE OF THE BED.. You can guess what that did to the sides of the bed, BIG tear in the metal.

HAHAHAHA, NICE!!! CTC dropped my mos friends van off the hoist. Sure, THere are good techs there but general consensus is THere are FAR better places to get your car repaired. I have heard good things about the CTC in Waterloo KING and WEBER, but each to thier own.

To say they make no money on parts is absolute bull. I have worked in three different automotive warehouses and have seen the mark-up on parts so either you work as a mechanic or don't pay attention. Mark up most of the time is more than 50% and as high as 100% as in most cases with MOST retail business. On the other hand, I wouldn't take my car to a Canadian Tire at all.

CT is only good for batteries and tire shine.

Obviously there is some kind of mark up on parts why would they do it if there wasnt? you think canadian tire is here to make your life easier? or to make money? pretty simple every business needs to make money

The debate about CTC and there quality is just a back and forth debate. Forget it. If you hate CTC so much then why do you bring your car there? If they are so bad with business then how do they keep growing and growing?
It's business, and even worse, car business, there will always be a few rotten apples.

No. Trust me, they make plenty on parts. They charge the same as PS does and think about it, PS does NO (as in ZERO) labour. PS is striving, how can you possibly think CT doesn't make a killing on parts?
I'd never take my car to CT, too many horror stories. Plus a first hand one that I experienced along with my dad on his van.

ok this is a story from another Focus owner in Toronto that happened last week(Canadian Tire On Queensway):
2 days ago, went to get provincial test..
2 lugs out of 16 was replaced by stock lugs which requires special thin wall socket to remove..but i do not have..and I didn't ask them to change the one on front..
And Yesterday I was trying to remove wheel to replace strut mount and other lugs came out easy but not 1 on front driver side..
Went to Canadian tire today morning 9 am and talked to supervisor and he agreed to give me the special socket but couldn't find any..
So Mechanic "A" was the one working on my car and he was not here today..
Other Mechanic "B" tried to take off using impact gun and couldn't take it off 1 lug and now saying that I ruined lug key, he rounded off key more using impact gun now..so I showed him using my hand tool and other came off easy..
if i ruined, why the other lugs came out easy..and there is no chance to ruin lugs using lug key with hand tool..
Then I said, "if Mechanic "A" torqued down properly, why is not coming out then.."
Then this Mechanic "B" started using "F" word every time he speaks..Get the F!@# out of here, Talk to F!@# Manager, it is not F@#!@# my problem, so and so..
I asked, "did you say f*** to me?"
And he said, "yeah what the f!@#, get the f!@# out of here"
I step close to his face and repeated, "did you say f***? to me?
and he repeats the same words..
And he walked away and talked to other mechanics saying "little guy blah blah blah"
then Supervisor came, he tell supervisor instead, "i am taking off uniform to fight and tell him to come to back door".
DUH~I was right beside of you! Why not talk to me directly??
Then he drove another car in and he repeated, "if he wants to bet me up, i will take off uniform and fight"..then I said to him, "you wanna fight right now??"
he said," not now, i m working"...
what an a$$hole..I can knock him down within 30 seconds..
whatever..
I am going there again tuesday 8 in the morning to see Mechanic 'A"

I think there are a few people on here being butt-hurt by us talking badly about CT. It's unfortunate that the place you guys work at has a bad reputation, but it's for a reason. We aren't saying you guys necessarily do it.
All I've got to say is if you go to CT, tell them exactly what you want done, nothing more, nothing less. Then stand there and watch them do the work.

that is exectly what u have to do
and that is what i did when the guy was taking off one of my rim/tire and putting the tire on a different rim....then putting it back on the car
