this one is for those technicaly smart when it comes to lcd screen's in cars.... my old scion had a screen in the dash when i pulled it out i snipped all the wires back as far as i could and without knowing one of them went to the ir sensor for the remote. all the wires are intact but it is missing th aactual sensor... how can i make it work? i have the screen and remote that is all...
thanks,
adam
You're kinda screwed...
...but seriously, you need an IR receiver that can be wired into the stereo for the same purpose, and on the same frequency as the remote. Even then, I can't be sure how all the functions would work. IMO, it hardly seems worth all the research, work and luck required.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That's pretty homo. I've only seen that once before and it was for my tv caputer card for my PC. The IR receiver was a cord and it plugged into the card so I could use my PC as a TV. I'd say you are pretty much euchred, get a new screen.
Have your tried wiring the screen for power and actually pointing the remote at the screen? In some cases the IR sensor is just so that if you were to mold the screen in or something and the sensor on the screen was covered you would have an external sensor. Also in some cases the wired IR sensor is just to widen the area that the signal can be picked up by the screen. Its worth a shot considering its only a few wires to hook up....
